Earlier this month, we held our annual Southend Sports Banquet at Filipino Community Center! The night was hosted by our program youth, Keelin and Miles! We started everything off with eating yummy food provided for us by local restaurants and small businesses from the Southend, transitioned into a game of commonalities, then gave out awards to some of our community’s frisbee superstars! We wanted to use this event to also highlight the graduating seniors and promoting 5th and 8th graders, so we had a “symbolic frisbee tossing ceremony” where we started off with a senior tossing a disc to an 8th grader, then passing it off to a 5th grader – representing the growth each individual experiences in the frisbee community.
We also had a very competitive raffle where we gave out super cool prizes! We gave out a bunch of AGE UP gear as well as some signed memorabilia from our very own Seattle sports teams, including a Kraken jersey, a Seahawks football, a Seattle Storm basketball, and even some tickets to a Seattle Storm game. Lastly, shout out to the awesome graduating seniors! The youth you are seeing here are just some of the individuals that have been such an important and fundamental part of the AGE UP and Southend community. We are so excited to see where the future takes them and see their growth as people both on and off the field.
