YEAHHH FRISBEE YEAHHH! Earlier this month, we wrapped up our month-long journey through our yearly Southend Ultimate Camps at Van Asselt Playfield, ending it with our middle schoolers. We’d start every day off with warm-ups, which included a camp counselor playing tag with all the campers, except it would be a handful of middle schoolers chasing a singular counselor, so you can imagine how high the energy was to start off every day!
We started the week off with some drills to get the groove going. A lot of running and going deep in some cutting drills, some more fun frisbee games like disc jousting, and lots of intense rounds of ‘Captains Coming’!
We would usually end the day with some scrimmaging with our high school camp counselors as their captains and coaches, allowing space for older kids in the Southend to be able to bond with the younger kids, give back to their community, and to better their leadership skills.
Finally, we ended the week-long camp with a fun game of galaxy wars. Big shout-out to the winners, the camp counselors, but even bigger shout-out to the campers for working together to try to defeat them! We also wrapped up by giving out free jerseys and frisbees, courtesy of DiscNW! Afterward, our counselors gave out spirit awards to some shining superstar campers that stood out through the entire week, another big shout-out to them!
We have Southend Ultimate Camps every summer and we’ve had camps running for the past 15 years, isn’t that crazy?! Help us continue running these camps by bringing more youth in next year, from any grades ranging from elementary to high school! See you next year for another fun year of camp!
